Andreas Smith

DeTect’s EU Program Manager

Andreas Smith is DeTect’s EU Program Manager and has over 17 years’ experience as a radar ornithologist and avian biologist. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Fisheries & Wildlife Science from North Carolina State University (1994). Mr. Smith has worked on the development and deployment of DeTect’s MERLIN mobile Avian Radar Systems used to perform short- and long-term surveys of bird activity related to wind energy projects, landfills, mining operations, military and civilian aircraft operations, and most recently projects using ADLS (Aircraft Detection Lighting Systems). He has conducted numerous avian (bird and bat) radar surveys and risk assessments, including both land-based and offshore wind farms, in Europe, North America, and Southeast Asia.
