Pieter Terpstra

Minister Counsellor Economy, Trade and Climate Netherlands

Pieter Terpstra is the Head of the Economic and Climate Section at the Netherlands Embassy in Tokyo. Before this, he was Deputy Head of Mission at the Netherlands Embassy in Manila, the Philippines. He also served at the Deputy Head of the Netherlands Delegation to the UNFCCC Climate negotiation. Under the UNFCCC he was EU negotiator on finance and co-facilitator of the negotiations under the ad hoc working group on the Paris Agreement. He is also a former member of the UNFCCC Standing Committee on Finance and a Senior Associate of the World Resources Institute. He has a number of publications on climate finance and the role of the private sector in adapting to climate change. He is a Financial Economist and Marine Biologist by training [and when not training for long-distance running, he enjoys exploring the underwater world.]
