Peter Thompson

Director of Infrastructure – Arup

Peter Thompson is an Infrastructure Director and the East Asia Energy Business Leader for Arup based in Hong Kong.  He has more than 33 years of experience in the management of the design and implementation of major energy and infrastructure works projects across a wide variety of overseas countries.  As a geotechnical engineer by profession, he has particular knowledge and expertise for the design and implementation of both onshore and offshore foundations and is currently involved with advisory works and the detailed design of the nearshore and offshore foundations for a number of the initial projects currently being undertaken in Japan, Korea and Taiwan. This involves a combination of highly technical skills including complex soil-structure and wave-structure interaction

analysis under a variety of load cases originating from the effects of strong seismic, wind and wave motions on structures.  He is also well versed in the utilisation of these skills to other areas of work including technical and commercial due diligence services associated with a variety of energy related assets beyond onshore and offshore wind.
